Tulsi is most loved by Lord Vishnu but Goddess Lakshmi is estranged from Tulsi as she is the consort of Shaligram, another form of Lord Vishnu. Thus, Tulsi is the sister of Goddess Lakshmi. Therefore Tulsi should not be offered in the worship of Goddess Lakshmi.

Do not place the lamp to the left
To worship Goddess Lakshmi, the lamp's wick should be red in color. Keep the lamp on the right side. The lamp should not be placed on the left side. The reason for this is that Lord Vishnu is the form of fire and light. Being a form of Lord Vishnu, the lamp should be placed on the right side.

Do not offer white flowers
Do not offer white flowers to Goddess Lakshmi. Goddess Lakshmi is a rip-off, so she is always offered red flowers such as red roses and red lotus flowers.

Do not forget to worship Lord Vishnu
